All But My LIfe Mattew Paspy
All But My Life opened my eyes to how the Germans treated the Jews. It is very hard for me to understand the hardships the Jewish people were put through. Even in these hard times people showed kindness, love, and the strength of the family bond. Gerda experienced many difficult situations. One that comes to mind is when her brother Arthur left to search for his girlfriend. He was driven by his love for her. The only way that Gerda would know if he was dead or alive is by his letters. The letters brought her great comfort. For me, this would be very difficult always wondering if someone in my family would be dead or alive. Abek a friend of Gerda, was very helpful during these difficult times. He was always willing to extend a helpful hand. Abek a friend of Gerda, who always extended a helping hand durnning this uncertainties. His feelings for her were very strong. They were so strong that he asked her to marry him, durnning this difficult times. Its always amazing to me the strength of the human spirit. The book is another example of the power in the human spirit.
