From the title the book to me seemed interesting! i agree with Matthew that from the beginning of the book bad things have happened to Gerda and her family. Gerda does extremely well coping with it! I feel the reason why Gerda is coping so well is that she knows she really has nothing else to loose! i also wonder why Hitler choose to send the Jewish families to ghettos then to camps rather then just to camp? Also i question Abek's love for Gerda! He fell in love with her after a short period of time! I'm so glad Gerda choose to go to camp instead of staying with Abek's family! Her life would have been over had she decided to stay! I wonder how Ms.Berger knew that Gerda's dad was dead!. I hope her and Arthur are able to reunite! I keep reading on hoping something good will come of this war! I feel Gerda is the most courageous eighteen year old ever! i don't think i would have made it this far! And lastly i wonder why the director didn't give her the mail from her uncle but but gave her permission to write to him!
